For my IGS project, I made a presentation about Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the USA. It's a huge park — almost 9.5 times bigger than Cuc Phuong and forests cover about 95% of it. I learned how the trees and weather change higher up the mountains, and how animals like elk and black bears survive by growing thick fur or hibernating. I also looked at two big problems, air pollution and too many visitors, and how the park solves them. I used facts from official websites, and I got better at researching and explaining problems and solutions.

In the amazing year of seventh grade, I've done various of projects, and also, presentations. But overall, I love my presentation "Lives Behind Fences", presented in ELA class. This is a adaptation from the lesson about Japanese American people after the Pearl Harbour, and how they suffer after Executive Order 9066 from president Roosevelt. My second favorite project is "Chasing a New Horizon", an adaptation from the essay I wrote about how I adapt to the new environment when I moved to a completly new city. It was a big surprise when my teacher share my presentation to the whole class. At first, I felt nervous because I did not expect everyone to see my work. However, when she played my slides on the screen, the room became quiet. I watched my classmates look closely at my paragraphs with interest. When it finished, everyone started clapping and some friends even asked me how I came up with my creative ideas. My teacher smiled and told the class that hard work always bring great results. This proud moment made me feel more confident.

I’m Mimi from Class 2B4. I carried out two fun science experiments. In the first experiment, I explored water retention by testing how different types of soil absorb and retain water. In the second experiment, I investigated magnetism by discovering which objects are attracted to a magnet and which are not. I am most proud of my cross-curriculum project about Yellowstone National Park. Through this project, I gained a multidisciplinary understanding of environmental science and ecological conservation. I learned how extreme climates and geothermal landscapes shape unique biological adaptations, such as the fire-dependent lodgepole pine and the winter survival tactics of local predators. Furthermore, by analyzing real-world challenges like invasive lake trout disrupting the food web and the infrastructure strain caused by overtourism, I developed a practical awareness of modern park management and problem-solving. Ultimately, the project allowed me to apply my knowledge and skills gained after many years with IGS.
